
Brent Wilson, PhD

Dr. Wilson is the Chief Technology Officer for Hum, and has been directing product research and metallurgical analysis for railroad specific applications from both academic and industrial positions for over 20-years. Throughout his career, he has been working toward continuous improvement in both product reliability and performance through the application of technological advancements to new and existing products for multiple industries, including: railroad, automotive, aerospace, military, and pipeline. During his career, Dr. Wilson has authored and/or presented over 60 articles on industrial research, specifically highlighting technical innovations in engineered products and performance. Formerly, Dr. Wilson was a voting member of the AAR Technology Outreach Committee (formerly, Technology Scanning) from 2008-2017. Dr. Wilson holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering, and has earned a Ph.D. with a specific emphasis in the field of railroad bearing failure analysis and mitigation. Since that time, Dr. Wilson has conducted and funded research to advance the current state of the railroad industry across multiple universities and national laboratories.
