Film Studies Program Open for Enrollment
SSU has launched its Film Studies Program with 2 certificates: Film and Media Studies (undergraduate level) and Advanced Film and Media Studies (graduate level).
The Certificate in Film and Media Studies program, at the undergraduate-level, is designed to give participants the knowledge, skills, and abilities to begin a career in a film studies related field. This certificate program provides a foundation of technical, entrepreneurial, and management principles for professionals working or expecting to find work in the ever-changing global media landscape. The curriculum includes courses in film industry perspectives, media production and management, media economics, story formation, and specialized courses devoted to the businesses of film, TV and Trans-media. Courses are packaged to target specific areas of development that will augment depth of knowledge or skills, help students remain competitive in the job market, advance their careers, or help them pursue personal enrichment. A total of seven courses build strong foundation skills in core subject areas and develop analytical, critical, and creative thinking. Elective courses guide students into optional and advanced areas in film and media studies. Students who join the program should expect to acquire the core knowledge and skills needed to understand and assist in the implementation of film production.
